WHY WE EXIST

Historically, the groups of people who are visually impaired and those who serve them have worked separately to achieve their goals. Experience has shown that working together on common goals helps persons who are blind or have low vision even more.

Cooperative action has become critically important to preserve the rights and resources available to visually impaired individuals due to drastic reduction in programs and funding which occurred during the past several years.

The Joint Action Committee promotes and achieves inter-organizational cooperation, communication, shared resources, and combined efforts. Through joint action, the lives of many individuals, who are blind or have low vision, have been, are, and will continue to be improved!
