Information on the Medicare Low Vision Demonstration Project

A demonstration project has been launched by CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) in six geographic areas to study the impact of Medicare coverage for vision rehabilitation services. The project will run from April 1, 2006 through March 31, 2011. This project will provide Medicare reimbursement for vision rehabilitation professionals - CVRTs, O & M Specialists and CLVTs - to determine whether these services should be covered under Medicare.
